Recognizing Bee Activity Around the Home

Bee presence isn’t always a problem, but sure signs suggest a hive may be too close for comfort. You might notice increased bee traffic near soffits, eaves, or vents—especially if they fly in and out of the same small gap. Buzzing inside walls or ceilings can indicate a hidden colony.

Arizona is home to several bee species, including honey bees, carpenter bees, and Africanized bees. While many are beneficial pollinators, some can become aggressive or nest dangerously close to high-traffic areas.

Our Approach to Bee Removal

First, we identify the bee species and nesting site. Depending on the situation, honey bees are often relocated rather than exterminated. Carpenter bees may require targeted treatment on wood surfaces, while aggressive or invasive species may need to be removed with safe, low-toxicity products.

Our technicians follow all state guidelines for bee control and use proper protective gear to ensure safe, humane removal. We never recommend DIY treatment, as disturbing a hive can lead to stings and serious danger.

Preventing Future Bee Nesting

Seal small openings in walls, soffits, and roofing to reduce the chance of bees returning. Paint or seal exposed wood to deter carpenter bees. Avoid letting irrigation boxes or furniture sit unused for long periods, as bees may nest inside.

Remember that bee activity spikes in spring—routine checks and quick action at the first sign of a hive can prevent costly or dangerous infestations later in the season.
