How Flea Infestations Begin

Fleas are tiny, fast-moving parasites that live off the blood of animals—and occasionally humans. In Arizona, flea problems often begin when a pet picks up fleas from the yard, a park, or another animal. Once inside, fleas quickly lay eggs in carpets, furniture, and bedding, leading to widespread infestation.

Their bites typically appear as small, red, itchy bumps around the ankles or lower legs. You may also notice excessive scratching in pets, flea dirt (black specks) in fur, or tiny insects leaping from surface to surface.

Our Flea Treatment Process

We start by inspecting areas where pets sleep and roam indoors and outdoors. Treatments include insect growth regulators and targeted insecticides to eliminate adults, larvae, and eggs.

We also advise pet owners to treat pets simultaneously using veterinarian-approved flea preventatives. Because of the flea life cycle, follow-up treatments are often required to eliminate them.

Preventing Fleas From Returning

Regular vacuuming, washing pet bedding in hot water, and using flea preventatives year-round are your best defenses. Clean under furniture, along baseboards, and in cracks where flea eggs may hide.

Outdoors: trim the grass and avoid letting pets rest in shady, overgrown areas. In Arizona’s warm climate, flea prevention isn’t just seasonal—it’s something to stay on top of all year, especially if you have pets.
