On September 28, 2024, Jon Martin, owner of Arizona Termite & Pest Solutions, was featured on 12 News in a segment addressing an alarming issue: rodents nesting in vehicles. In the segment titled Unwanted Passengers: Are Rodents Making Nests in Your Car?, Jon shared expert insights on how these furry intruders can cause significant damage to your vehicle and offered helpful advice on how to prevent and remove them.
The Hidden Dangers of Rodents in Your Car
Rodents often seek shelter in warm, quiet spaces like the engine compartments of vehicles, especially as the weather cools. These pests can cause a range of problems, from chewing through wires to damaging insulation and upholstery. The damage can be costly, not to mention the potential health risks posed by the diseases rodents can carry. Jon explained that while it may seem like an unlikely place to find rodents, vehicles are a prime target, particularly in areas with abundant vegetation or when parked in close proximity to homes.
Jon’s Expert Tips for Preventing Rodents in Your Car
In the 12 News segment, Jon provided viewers with actionable steps to protect their vehicles from rodents:
- Inspect Your Vehicle Regularly: Check your car, especially under the hood, for signs of rodent activity such as droppings or nests.
- Seal Potential Entry Points: Ensure there are no gaps or open areas where rodents can gain access to your vehicle.
- Use Rodent Repellents: Consider using natural repellents or professional pest control services to deter rodents from nesting in your car.
